Julien obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Geneva before completing a Master’s in Microbiology and Immunology at ETH Zürich. During his Master’s, he conducted research in mucosal immunology in Prof. Slack’s group, studying E. coli capsular polysaccharides and their effects on immune responses. He later joined Prof. Hardt’s group, where he investigated Salmonella pathogenesis and completed his Master’s thesis on the characterization of central carbon metabolism of Salmonella Typhimurium during gut colonization. Outside the lab, Julien enjoys visiting art exhibitions, engaging in sports, painting, and reading.
